Snow tubing at Big Bear Lake

The mountain looked so clear & beautiful after the rain, covered with snow and the sky was clear as it can be. There was no question about it.  Packed up few things and headed on 91fwy with Eunice, Joshua, Noah and Cloe and her son, Daniel. Took us 2 hrs to fight thru 91fwy and till we exited the fwy, but the true journey started from there. There was a line line of cars from the bottom of the mtn all the way to BB Lake....it took us nearly 4 hrs to get to the resort!!! It was the longest 25 miles ever! Guess I wasn't the only one hearing the mtn calling. It was just too crazy.
But the snow tubing was totally fun. The place charged $15pp for the night session (5~9pm). It was 19 degrees with icicles hanging from the car bumpers and icy road with feet slipping but the snow tubing was so much fun.
You can ride alone or link with someone else's tube and ride together. There were guys taking pix as they were going down the slope. Joshua got scared after the first ride. Sorry, Joshua. Let's try again next year. Oh, yes. We'll definitely avoid the Christmas weekend.
  • Address: 800 Wildrose Ln, Big Bear, CA 92315   (909) 866-4626
or   42825 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear, CA 92315     (909) 585-0075
  • What I liked about it:
Oh, the escalator was the bomb. It was easy to learn...very safe. Anyone older than 5 can have fun with the fast and long slope riding.
  • Good place to eat:
There's IHOP (closes at 9:30pm) and Denny's on BB blvd.
  • What to take:
Definitely, water-proof pants for sure! Gloves and a boot. The snow gets into everywhere.
Try taking a rope to tie the tubes together. Otherwise, you have to use your feet to connect the tubes.
  • Didn't use the snow chain but do take one pair just in case
