Let's get back to the Mother Nature for healing Eczma!

I watched a TV program in which they showed a few of severe Eczma patients. In it they showed the before and after video recordings of these 10 and 12 year old kids and it just blew me away. These kids were hurting so bad they formed a thick red layer of cracked and dry skins around the back of the knees, neck arms and etc. Their classmates didn't want to sit near them, they were constantly made fun of, and they couldn't go to sleep because they were itching so badly day and night. In this study, they wanted to emphasize the importance of the hidden healing power of being around the nature. To prove their point, they took these kids for few months into the woods and had them stay and live there, breathing fresh air. The results were amazing. Within 5 months, their dry skins were pretty much gone and the redness almost healed. Their attitude got brighter and much less reserve. After bringing the kids back to city, the parents changed the wallpaper and the flooring material to that contains natural wood material and the healing continued.

From watching this TV program, I decided to give it a try with Joshua's Eczma. So today I took him to the El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach, and was pleasantly surprised that there was such place in the middle of LB.

Balboa Island - 6th year wedding anniversary

02/01/2009 was my 6th year wedding anniversary. While searching for a place to take my wife out on this day, I was seeking a place where we can spend the afternoon together talking and just enjoying each other's company...a luxury we couldn't indulge for the last ...oh, God... about 3 years. My co-worker Reggie hooked me up with this nice place that many SoCal residents don't seem to know about. The Balboa island.
The weather was perfect on this sunday. We got home around 1pm after church service, then put both kids to nap and headed out before 2. Thanks to my mom who gladly said "go ahead and have a good time." Finally, it was just two of us!!!
Took 5FWY down to New Port Beach and took the ferry. It was pretty interesting ride. The ferry carries 3 cars at a time and make frequent trips all day long. Their website says it's run by 3 brothers now and their father, Mr. Beeks, started this business back in 1919. While we were enjoying the beautiful view of the Balboa island and the ocean, the ferry traveled from the Balboa island to the Balboa peninsula in about 5 min (0.25 miles).
Then, we drove to the Balboa Jetty park, park the car there in the street, and strolled down the beach and just talked for awhile. Something we needed to do for a long time. It was the Superbowl Sunday so there weren't many people out at the park, which was even better for us :)
Then, we headed to the Newport Landing restaurant.
Again, Reggie highly recommended this place asked that we get a table on the 2nd level. So we did. It was beautiful. Had a great ocean view toward the Balboa island and the main land. The server turned on the small heater since it was around 5pm and getting a little cold. Yes, let's talk about how the dinner was. Both the clam chowder and the house salad with raspberry vinaigrette were superb, as well as the calamari sticks we ordered as appetizer. For dinner my wife ordered Opakapaka, which is a piece of white fish covered with Macadamia Nut and served with Chunky Mango Salsa and Coconut Rice. I ordered Potato wrapped salmon. The presentation was beautifully done on both and they tasted umm~umm~ so good I was thinking to myself 'I am so coming back to this place'.
How did she like it? Well, she said "Today was the best anniversay ever". Let's just leave it at that! (and yes, I forgot to take the camera. Doh!)

Snow tubing at Big Bear Lake

The mountain looked so clear & beautiful after the rain, covered with snow and the sky was clear as it can be. There was no question about it.  Packed up few things and headed on 91fwy with Eunice, Joshua, Noah and Cloe and her son, Daniel. Took us 2 hrs to fight thru 91fwy and till we exited the fwy, but the true journey started from there. There was a line line of cars from the bottom of the mtn all the way to BB Lake....it took us nearly 4 hrs to get to the resort!!! It was the longest 25 miles ever! Guess I wasn't the only one hearing the mtn calling. It was just too crazy.
But the snow tubing was totally fun. The place charged $15pp for the night session (5~9pm). It was 19 degrees with icicles hanging from the car bumpers and icy road with feet slipping but the snow tubing was so much fun.
You can ride alone or link with someone else's tube and ride together. There were guys taking pix as they were going down the slope. Joshua got scared after the first ride. Sorry, Joshua. Let's try again next year. Oh, yes. We'll definitely avoid the Christmas weekend.
  • Address: 800 Wildrose Ln, Big Bear, CA 92315   (909) 866-4626
or   42825 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear, CA 92315     (909) 585-0075
  • What I liked about it:
Oh, the escalator was the bomb. It was easy to learn...very safe. Anyone older than 5 can have fun with the fast and long slope riding.
  • Good place to eat:
There's IHOP (closes at 9:30pm) and Denny's on BB blvd.
  • What to take:
Definitely, water-proof pants for sure! Gloves and a boot. The snow gets into everywhere.
Try taking a rope to tie the tubes together. Otherwise, you have to use your feet to connect the tubes.
  • Didn't use the snow chain but do take one pair just in case

할로윈을 참여하지 않는 이유

John 1 1:11
Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
